Btw. do you have more than 100 Games added to Carousel (original mini + own)? 100 is Max.
And you can try something else.
- Boot up your mini with console connected - kill the the64 process - start /bin/the64 again
And look if he gives you some error msg while starting it.
Just had the Problem, that my mini didnt start the carousel, because i had some spacing failure in 2 .tsg files i put on it before. starting it from console he showed me exactly which file(s) it was which caused him not to load the carousel

I have the following output with two cover images not loading...
RedQuark One redquarkone login: [ 4.751899] EXT4-fs error (device sda2): ext4_ext_check_inode:415: inode #746: comm the64: bad header/extent: invalid extent entries - magic f30a, entries 2, max 4(4), depth 0(0) [ 4.769682] Aborting journal on device sda2-8. [ 4.777101] EXT4-fs (sda2): Remounting filesystem read-only [ 4.795660] EXT4-fs error (device sda2): ext4_ext_check_inode:415: inode #746: comm the64: bad header/extent: invalid extent entries - magic f30a, entries 2, max 4(4), depth 0(0)
You have some errors on your USB drive filesystem, as shown by the 'EXT4-fs' errors. That might be the reason for the strange behaviour.. You either need to repair the filesystem or just create a new one (after backing up your own game files and other changed files). Making an new one is probably easier. To repair, you could remove the USB drive an boot into the normal C64Mini mode. Then insert the USB drive and run the filesystem repair program (e2fsck):
umount /dev/sda2 e2fsck -p /dev/sda2
But recreating is much better, as you don't know if any files were damaged
... I added some games to the carousel - the games work fine, but some cover pix get mixed up with pix of other games, some screen pixs get mixed up with screen pix of other games, too. The paths in the .tsg files are set correctly. Someone an idea for this behaviour?

DG5KR: When I was young I felt like the world was turning faster. The C64 was a world full of adventure. First Basic, then Assembler, playing incredible games with friends. It was the best time of my life.

j.: @lordvico - I've noticed this with lots of games. I wondered if this was a PAL vs. NTSC thing and also wondered why the screen type wasn't translated for me.

j.: william - don't pull the joystick. If you need to pull to insert a USB stick - get a USB hub so you can have both plugged in at the same time. One way to save would be to use the game save-state feature. This would be the easiest to do for 4 or less

william: So far I am pretty frustrated using the BASIC. Every time I pull out the joy stick to put the usb into the machine it pops out of BASIC and goes back to the main menu. How does one write a program in BASIC and save it?

eBUG: Hmm how about the C64 makers include some Pascal software and other creative software in addition to games in the carousel ? :-D
