I just found this out... WOW. Rename the D81/2 image THEC64-drive8.D64 and put it on the root of you USB stick, then put it into TheC64 Mini. Open a game from the carousel.(Alleykat) Exit it Go to BASIC Type LOAD "*",8,1 command don't press the return key yet. Make the save state now by pressing the 3rd red button and pressing fire on Save/Load games then pick a slot there are only 4 to save to and each one will be a picture of the screen saved you, press the 1st red button to save it, So next time you start up the machine, just go to BASIC and the press the 3rd red button and load the save you made before(Don't press the wrong button, make sure it the 3rd to load the game not 1st button, it's easy to make.. ) and you won't need to go into the carousel game in order to get the fast-loader and d81/2 image support. So how to load a D81/2 image... Rename the D81/2 image THEC64-drive8.D64 and put it on the root of your USB stick. and plug it into TheC64 Mini USB port and the goto Basic and load your save now by pressing 4th button menu key and press fire on Save/Load game then highlight the save and press the 3rd button to load it and then press return and load D81/2 disk image then type RUN then Return then game will start. Hope this help you get more games on your TheC64 Mini..

D81 and other larger disk images do get around the disk swapping issue. For instance, on Metal Warrior Ultra, released recently by Protovision and Psytronik Software is bundled on a D81 image.

Shaun.

This was before RGL made USB File Loader and you could only load one image on the USB Flash Drive "THEC64-drive8.d64", that you could rename a d81 image to "THEC64-drive8.d64" I loaded Alleykat before I loaded the image by accident, I didn't realised I did at first..

...But you still can't SWITCH disks from BASIC on the Mini, the way you can with the Media Access menu on the Maxi. Could someone explain the reasoning behind that for me? If the feature exists for the Maxi, why would it not be enabled on the Mini? It is far and away my most desperately needed feature, and it's driving me nuts...
Thanks...

You could swap disks by using a script and shortcut keys and over mount the disk.d64 file then you just change the d64 file you want to mount, I just thought of this, so have to look into it.

Just a note for anyone browsing this thread in 2021 -- swapping disks in BASIC on "TheC64 Mini" is now supported and happily trivial in the latest firmware. For me, the firmware landed barely a week before I managed to get my hands on a "TheC64 Maxi", which had always had disk-swapping capability -- so it was a bit of a personal slap in the face. [They also (at long last) made joystick swapping possible, so I was grateful that the Powers That Be heard our pleas...]
