When you turn on TheC64 its comes up with Boot Mode to boot into Classic Mode(C64 Basic Mode) and Mini Mode(TheC64 Mini Carousel Menu). Classic Mode is C64 Basic so it comes up with the Commodore 64 screen with the Basic bytes free on it. Mini Mode is the Carousel Menu from TheC64 Mini but we do not know yet if it will have the same games as TheC64 Mini or not. What do you think, do you like it..? You can see it here in this picture..

I like the idea of having a boot mode, however a more elegant solution would have been holding down a key while powering up to enter basic. Something like the 128 did to enter 64 mode on power up. I certainly hope that the carousel has a new selection of games, but it's certainly not a deal breaker for me.

This is a very stupid idea. So instead of having "Basic" on the carousel you now have an inital menu? Why the extra effort? It should boot into Basic, unless you press a button on a stick when turning on (carousel). Also the ONE thing I really want is full access to the VICE options (or whatever they will use) to finetune the machine directly. For this you need one extra button (on the back of the 64) or hardwire Button 4 on the controller (or a different button on USB controllers) to jump into VICE options rather than the carousel.

It boots in to VIC 20 too... I saw that; pretty cool! Although, I really wish they slapped in a C128 mode, too. Oh well, can't win them all.

Just a question, now that theC64 is about to be released, I think there will be updatees for the firmware as well, but is TheC64 mini going to have more updates??? last one was for the release of Galancia in the debut of 2019... I m a bit worried about it as i preordered TheC64 microswitched joystick, and cross fingers for a total compatibility of it on the mini. In the worst case it wont work i'll make a report here on the board of course.
BTW Amazon is planning on 12-14 december for me to get it (as it's released the 5), apparently same issue for TheC64 full size (Im in France). It will be a long waiting for me believe me :-)

It's good that my kids can just pick mini mode fast. They don't know English, so making it easy to access the carousel is good. I hope they never change that part with firmware.

Ok!! thanks for the update on mini, was not sure because only THEC64maxi was the center of all attentions for a while. And for Amazon-France theC64 micro switch joystick doesn't seems to be released now.. but the competion pro I ordered works very well on mini for sure, just saying for others that having same issue on European Countrys..
