I bought a Mini yesterday. It came with the firmware "thec64-1.0.5-argent", so of course one of the first things I did was download the latest firmware (1.3.2) and try to upgrade it. However, it flat out refuses to install the upgrade:
- The Mini does recognise the firmware file on my USB stick(s), but:
- When I click "Apply", approximately nine out of ten times I get sent back to the previous menu screen.
- The last 1 out of 10 times the whole unit freezes.
- I've tried several different USB sticks and triple-checked that they're all FAT32 with MBR. Same problem with all of them.
- I've managed to find a couple of earlier firmwares (1.2.0 and 1.3.1). That didn't work any better - same problem.
- EDIT: Also relevant: I've tried (so far) three different power supplies ranging from 1A to 2.5A.
- EDIT: New update: I found the firmware versions 1.1.0, 1.1.1 and 1.1.2 on this site to test with. Same unsuccessful result.
(My Mini also won't recognise the joystick that came with my "Maxi". I guess support for that may have been introduced in a later firmware... which I'm unable to install).
I've searched the Internet (inclduing this forum) extensively for any description of this particular problem, but I haven't been able to find anything. (When people have problems upgrading the firmware, the reason usually seems to be the filesystem on their USB stick. That is not the case here).
I would be very grateful for any useful tips. Is there an alternative way of upgrading the firmware (e.g. via a computer)?
CONCLUSION: I went back to the shop and got a replacement unit. That one worked wonderfully, so obviously my original one was faulty in some way.
