The file has been removed by Mega, send it to me and I put on my one drive, I have loads of space... I was thinking of puting MC in PCU so users can edit the C64 files with without having to use a PC.. like if they want to add AD to a D64 files or something..? I think the USB File Brosweer or Media Access should be able to do it but you know what RGL are like..

Instructions are in the original thread: Try this version, it's better suited for unpacking correctly. To unpack, assuming you're in 'Mini' mode and not FEL mode and have the 'midnight commander.cpio.gz' on the root of an inserted USB drive, FIRST BACKUP YOUR NANDB if you didn't do so alreadyAnd then: mount /tmp/usbdrive/sda1 /mnt mount -o remount,rw / zcat /tmp/ramfs/midnight\ commander.cpio.gz | cpio -i mc Left File Command Options Right ┌<─ ~ ────────────────────────────.[^]>┐┌<─ ~ ────────────────────────────.[^]>┐ │.n Name │ Size │Modify time ││.n Name │ Size │Modify time │ │/.. │UP--DIR│Jan 1 00:07││/.. │UP--DIR│Jan 1 00:07│ │/.cache │ 4096│Jan 1 00:09││/.cache │ 4096│Jan 1 00:09│ │/.config │ 4096│Jan 1 00:09││/.config │ 4096│Jan 1 00:09│ │/.local │ 4096│Jan 1 00:09││/.local │ 4096│Jan 1 00:09│ │ .ash_history │ 4922│Jan 1 00:03││ .ash_history │ 4922│Jan 1 00:03│ │ vicerc │ 136│Jan 1 00:10││ vicerc │ 136│Jan 1 00:10│ │ │ │ ││ │ │ │ │ │ │ ││ │ │ │ │ │ │ ││ │ │ │ │ │ │ ││ │ │ │ │ │ │ ││ │ │ │ │ │ │ ││ │ │ │ │ │ │ ││ │ │ │ │ │ │ ││ │ │ │ │ │ │ ││ │ │ │ ├──────────────────────────────────────┤├──────────────────────────────────────┤ │UP--DIR ││UP--DIR │ └────────────────────── 24M/69M (34%) ─┘└────────────────────── 24M/69M (34%) ─┘ Hint: Want your plain shell? Press C-o, and get back to MC with C-o again. root@redquarkone:~$ 1Help 2Menu 3View 4Edit 5Copy 6RenMov 7Mkdir 8Delete 9PullDn10Quit
This will create the files, symlinks etc OK. Some of the function keys might also be used by your OS though, in my case e.g. F9 and F10 don't work from a terminal window. And in FEL mode the terminal doesn't recognise a lot of keys.

Thanks I was thinking of make this come up before the Carousel Gamelist Screens load up but only if you enable it in the main script first but would need to boot the Carousel Gamelist screen up if you close or exit from MC too. just need to figure it all out now, noticed a lot of users want to be able to edit files on THEC64 but have to use a PC to do it, I do wish I could make a menu to enable stuff in the script without edit in it on a PC too.. so you can select a option and it remembers what you selected and save it in the script..? Any ideas how I would go about making a menu like that..? I have ideas what I want in PCU but just don't know how to make it a reality..

I have put midnight commander.cpio.gz in its own folder.. "/Carousel_Games/Options/mc/" can you help.. ?

You can add the decompress commands in the script and only run them if the /usr/bin/mc file does not exists if [ ! -e /usr/bin/mc ] cd / zcat /mnt/Carousel_Games/Options/mc/midnight\ commander.cpio.gz | cpio -i cd /mnt fi
I've never run midnight commander on the Maxi so you need to check if it works. You can also rename the 'midnight commander.cpio.gz' to e.g. 'midnight_commander.cpio.gz' for better readability. For reference: linuxcommand.org/lc3_man_pages/testh.html

Oh and do I need to type/add "mc &" as well to tell it to run Midnight Commander or will that code run it too..? Like..

On second thought, you need a framebuffer console... On the Mini I had this working in FEL mode but not the standard one as that doesn't work. On the Maxi I haven't tried it. Maybe we can combine the X-Windows mod and PCU if you really want to be abel to run e.g. mc?

Good idea, I don't know how to do that.. I was thinking you could add the script from X-Windows mod to PCU or if you want the other way round, it would need a if statement like "if fire button is held down run X-Windows_mod.sh" or something like that.. I think it would be better added to PCU cause it has folders already were scripts are so just have to put it in Options folder, then run the script from there..? It funny really, it will have all 3 projects in it PCU,X-Windows mod and THEC64 Maxi Tool... well it a better idea if there all combine in one..

Got X-Windows Mod working with PCU, at the moment you able it by removing a # in front of the line so when enabled it boot up and when you log out it shuts down X-windows Mod then boots PCU.. I need to add a bookmark for the SD Card in the C64 Maxi PI but there is 2 partitions on the SD card and I only need the copy of nandb partition, the second partition showing, I want to keep the other bookmarks so if it use my THEC64 Mini too and as well if other users want to use it too they need to still get to nandb on the real thing, any idea how I would go about this ..? So it needs to be able to see nandb on THEC64 Maxi/Mini like it is now but able to see the SD card nandb partition on THEC64 Maxi PI too..

How would you do this, I was thinking if you don't know maybe hold down space bar or maybe one of the F keys.. F1, F3, F5 or F7, maybe F7..?
