Hello everyone,
I got myself the C64 Maxi, with the Joystick and was playing with it for a bit but for some reason alot of my games use joystick port 1 instead of 2. So I thought to be smart and put my usb stick in my pc and run VICE with TheC64 joystick on the pc, so I can test the games and make instant changes to the settings either with _j1 in the filename or cjm file. This seem to be the perfect solution, because I don't have to shutdown theC64, unplug the usb stick put it in my pc, change the filename or cjm file soft eject the usb stick and then physically eject the usb stick and put it in the C64 and try the next game. There is however one problem, the joystick gets recognized, and I can select it, but the moment I leave that settings screen, the selection is gone. I noticed that the Joystick name begins with a space, so that may be the issue, but is there a way to fix this? Because I saw people with the C64 mini Joystick doing this and that worked fine.

Have you tried Joystick Settings under Settings in VICE and make sure you save your settings under Settings and tick save setting on exit. You can Swap Joysticks under Options too so you can swap ports.

Yes I did do that, it doesn't save and when I swap them, the C64 Joystick dissapears again. In other words it doesn't show up on the other joystick port but just dissapears. I'm blaming the name of the device for some reason it starts with a space, maybe vice is having problems with that, as I know the C64 Mini Joystick does work, atleast it did.

I don't use my thec64 joystick with VICE on the PC, I use my Xbox 360 controller, I only use it with THEC64 Maxi PI. If you save your settings it should remember your joystick.

Yes it should, but it isn't with me. But your comment still worked, I can use my xbox one controller instead, it doesn't have the click clack sounds but it's just for testing and to make changes when necessary. I feel sooooooo stupid that I didn't think about this, it's so logical, anyways thanks for your help.
