I can't get THEC64(Commodore Key) key to work in the TSG file,Even setting it with TheC64 Maxi Game Tool, its called "CM" in the Joystick settings, I am trying to get the left fire button to be THEC64 key so when you press it, it that key. the game that uses that key(Left flipper)is the 3D Pinball game,Pinball Power by Mastertronic, it included with the Carousel Games from USB. EDIT: Retro Games Ltd know about this now and should be fixed in the next update..

Here is a picture of THEC64 Maxi Game Tool working in Commodore OS(Linux) using Wine... 😀 I've run it on my X Windows 'upgrade' on the Maxi, using Wine and qemu-user-static. But it was too slow to be useful.

will there possibly be an update for the German version ? There are still problems with the umlauts and the D.de: Parameters can not be edited.
furthermore it is so, that always all german texts are deleted

Is it possible to reset/downgrade to the original firmware if I update with this "fake" on c64 Maxi?

|
|
Post by commodorelikebefore on May 26, 2020 12:47:45 GMT
And does it remove the original games or just add the new once? If I delete a game and update again, will it delete that one on the c64 Maxi and is is possible to edit the "fake" and update again if I did something wrong or do I need to change the number on the bin-file?
Also, has anyone had any problems with their c64 Maxi when updating?
And last, do I need the latest original firmware update first or should I use that one that was preinstalled?

REMEMBER.. You take a risk everytime you use this to flash your firmware with games so just remember that, things can go wrong. Now there is no need to do that now you can use games from USB Stick in the Carousel and still organize them using Thec64 Maxi Game Tool, there is no need to flash it now, even better if you have THEC64 Maxi cause it has its own USB port in the back, you could use for the Games on the USB Stick and no one would know you have it in there.. My opinion would be to load games from the USB Stick only or use Carousel Games from USB Stick, it more saver. It don't void your Warranty too, it not worth it. Most people can only afford to have one THEC64 even now so not worth it, it going wrong and this can AVOID your Warranty because you have flash the firmware with a tool not officially made by Retro Games LTD so if it goes wrong you have to fix it yourself so no Guarantee. Just wanted you to know...

You can use thec64 Game tool to edit or add you own description, just edit it from English to German, the description.

How do I change the beep sound of the THEC64 when switching games to another?
Could you add a change option to your tool? I mean, a solution that changes the bin file.

I never made the Game Tool app, raxrip did so you have contact him about the app not me.. You can change that sound but only using Carousel Games from USB Stick. I would like a version of the app without the flashing part so it can just be used with Carousel Games from USB Stick only and you don't get confused.

Is it possible to also manipulate the "gamecontrollerdb.txt" with this tool? Is there a tool to decompress the bin filewhich is creatd by the C64 Game Tool? Maybe it is possible to replace the gamecontroller.db to make the Speedlink Competition Pro Anniversary Edition work better (the menu button is mapped to the top left fire button which is absolutely annoying). Any ideas?

To replace gamecontrollerdb.txt you can use e.g. the X Windows mod and do it manually, or change the start.sh of that mod to copy the gamecotrollerdb.txt. Or you can use Project Carousel USB to use it from a USB drive alltogether.

If you need a cjm file for a game, just make it in the THEC64 Maxi Game Tool, add the game like you would, once you have made the .tgs file rename it extension from .tgs to cjm, it works cause they are basically the same file, it will only use what it needs, so don't put in a description of the game cause .cjm files don't use it, all you need is the model like x64 or vic20, pal or ntsc and joystick config, you can put any game into it and any png for cover and screen and then it will make the tgs file... I posted this cause THEC64 Mini Zone website where you could use The CJM Configuration Tool has gone, well everything start to disappear after a while and stops being supported when it interest starts to dwindle.

I just can't get two player games to work. The games are starting, but for every game I tested only one joystick is working, but not the second one. Can you help?

Look in the game tool to see if the game has a map for the second joystick, sometimes it only maps one joystick.

How is it with official updates, I had popcorn's games on my THEC64 Mini and updated it v1.4.2 and it had a black screen, had to put the original games back for it to work..? The firmware you can't hold alot of games only 150, and if it low on space and you update that when it mess it up, I had 150 games on it, cause RGL updates now add there own games too, you will probably will never be able to update it unless you put the original games back. I don't use THEC64 Maxi Game Tool any more I use PCU Game Manager... and its going to be removed from PCU soon.

I havent updated yet with the games added since i only have had my TheC64 a couple of weeks. Sounds like a hassle though if i have to remove and re-copy my added games if there is a new firmware update. And thanks for your amazing work spannernick!

I updated USB Carousel to latest beta 1.20 from 1.19, and now the crashing problem is gone, i will remove my added games to internal carousel and only use USB carousel now, as it works perfectly!!
